Course StructureThe Honours program in Statistics is comprised of 48 units, 24 of which are coursework and the remaining 24 comprise a honours thesis. Coursework may be chosen from the available 8000-level statistics offerings as well as individually designed reading courses (to be arranged by the candidate with appropriate staff members) and suitable courses from other schools or departments as approved by the course convener. Courses taken at the 3000 level during an undergraduate degree may not be repeated at the 8000 level in the Honours program. Typically, no more than two courses may be chosen from outside the main statistics offerings. The Honours Thesis may be supervised by any member of the School of Finance and Applied Statistics, or other staff members of the ANU with suitable statistics background. Honours candidates are strongly encouraged to contact staff members in the weeks before the commencement of the honours program to investigate possible supervision arrangements and thesis topics.
